Warrior Visit

Today we had a few visitors from the warriors that came to visit our school. We had Ryan Hoffman the captin of the Warriors, we had John Palavi, Alice and Georgia that one who organised the event. The thing they did was handing out some spot prizes and also the other thing we did was that we played Trivia (quizzes). What you do in trivia is what was on the screen, you will see the wheel spin then after a few seconds it would stop and come up with a category linking to what they do, But before we started spinning the wheel we had to come up with our own chant, we were split into 2 teams one was Ryan Hoffman's team and one was John Palavi team. For the chant Ryan's one was HOFFY & John's one was JP. Georgia spun the wheel and the first thing it came up with was Hydration. What we had to do was to shout out our chant the loudest and if she picks one of our teams then we can answer the question we have to answer about hydration. The next category was sleep, we did the same rotation as the other one which was to shout the loudest and to see who gets picked. The lucky last one was belonging, they talked about where we belong. John Palavi said he belonged to a family, Ryan Hoffman said he belonged to the warriors. The students said they belong to school and many more. To finish off the session with them we had to say our chant the loudest for 30 seconds and of unfortunately HOFFY's team lost and JP's team won. After they were done for the session we took some photo's at the end and some people even got to get a hand shake with them. We all had a awesome time actually getting the oppotunity meeting a few members from the warriors team.

Current Events: Olympic Spriit

This is my current I did based on the 500 meter run. For current events this week, we have seen two athlete's help each other up after getting tripped over. Unfortunately one of them have crushed their ligaments in her knee. The two athlete's were Abbey D'agostino and Nikki Hamblin. They have showed great sportsmenship between each other and they have both done alot of teamwork. They have also showed us how to be a great role model. This was a excellent example showing how a great role model helps one another. The thing that the author wanted us to learn from watching these Olympic athlete, is that we need to help each other by making us learn to have a fair play and to work as a team.

Netball Tournement

Yesterday,  4 teams (two teams from year 7 & 8 and 2 teams from Year 5/6) participated in the Inter school Netball Competition. All we did is  that we learned to have team spirit and we all worked together to create chemistry. Our first game was against Point England and unluckily we lost 1 - 5. Our second game was against Glen Taylor, unfortunately we lost. Our third game was against Glen brae and unfortunately we lost again. Our final game was against Panmure Bridge 2 which was the other year 7&8 team... Lucky we have finally won. We all tried our best and we all had fun.

Provocation (Before & After)

Here is my DLO based on "Should host countries have to spend so much money on building Olympic venues". We have been learning to consider both sides of a provocation so that we can make an informed opinion. My opinion is no because it is a waste of time and money and once they build it they only use it for a short amount of time. Why build something your only going to use for a short period of time. Why spend so much money on the stadium when you have more important things to look after such as, Schools, jobs or even company's. People should think about what they are going to do with there money so that it could be used wisely.

Kiwi Sport (Run, Jump, Throw)

Today the year 7 and 8's had Kiwi Sport with Andy. We were learning to get our skills right on the difference between sprints and a distance run. The difference between the sprints and a distance run, is that when your getting ready in position for sprints, you use blocks. All you need to say for when your in sprints is, On your mark, GO (Thats when the gun goes BOOM). The difference for a distance run, is that you need to step 1m away from the line, then when the caller says On your mark, you have to bring one of your leg forward like your squishing a bug and wait till the caller calls out "Set" then thats when you lift your heal up at the back and also getting your hand in position. The thing you have to do when your in a distance race is that you have to put your opposite arm to your leg in position.
