Hyperbole

This is my DLO that I did with my Partner Javeylor. We have worked collaboratively together on a DLO based on Hyperbole. We learnt that Hyperbole is an exaggeration statement which is when someone says something but you're not meant to take it in a serious way. My partner and I have had a lot of fun learning about what Hyperbole means. We have worked really hard to get this task completed.

Provocation (Before & After)

Here is my DLO based on "Should host countries have to spend so much money on building Olympic venues". We have been learning to consider both sides of a provocation so that we can make an informed opinion. My opinion is no because it is a waste of time and money and once they build it they only use it for a short amount of time. Why build something your only going to use for a short period of time. Why spend so much money on the stadium when you have more important things to look after such as, Schools, jobs or even company's. People should think about what they are going to do with there money so that it could be used wisely. 

Advertising

For writing, we played a collaborative game on advertising. We were put in to groups to write down the same thing that was on the paper, but the thing was that the writer wasn't allowed to see it. After the game we had to write what advertising is, but only with using 25 words. Later we made a DLO based on what we were doing. Advertising is a way for business to promote their products. Advertisers persuade their target audience's into thinking like them and to trick people into believing their advertisement. It was a lot harder doing it rather then watching it.

Story Startes Scramble - Writing

 This is my story I done on a website called Story Starters Scramble. I have made a news paper written with my story, my story was based on describing the house of an old spider monkey who solves crimes. We had to start off with spinning the wheel then it will come up with a topic. If you like your topic then you have to either write it as it is like a post card, news paper, letter or a notebook. Speech

Greetings to you all. I will be talking to you today about the importance of Education. Do you know what being a true scholar is? Do you know what education is? Education is the best progress of achieving the best quality of life. By education, you get to know new things. The reason why school is here for kids, is because education is where we can get the knowledge. Did you know that education provides us with many types of knowledge and skills?

Education for us at this age, is really important. To get you to a high standard, EDUCATION FIRST. Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change your life. Getting education is very necessary to get a happy life. Our parents make us learn many things at home. Our home is the first education, where we learn how to behave to one another.

We should make our habits of learning all the time, throughout the life of our teachers, parents, family members, friends and also others that you're related to in life. We learn to become a good person, learn to live a life with a good progress. Attending school and receiving education is extremely good for those who want to achieve success.

The more knowledge we get, we grow and grow even more in life. Being well educated not only means to earn certificates and good salary. However it also means to be a good and social person in the life.

Education not only makes us able to learn about history, science, math, geography, and other subjects however it makes us smart enough to learn how to live life and handle bad situations. EDUCATION IS YOUR FIRST PRIORITY.

I was reading my speech and while reading it I had confidence in myself. Afu, Reon & Ma'ata has worked collaboratively judging me with my speech. I have used expression in my speech but I need to work on knowing my speech off by heart.

Shoes Narritive

I see the sunlight directly flashing straight in my eyes, as I just woke up. All of a sudden I heard loud footsteps coming towards my shoe box. I felt like the owner wasn't going to care about me in the middle of the shoe box then just stand on me and squish me like nothing happened. As I got squished from my owner,  I got kicked outside and apparently I landed on dog poo. Seconds later the heavy wind blew me towards a bird near the streets, and on the other side of the street I see another pair of lonely shoes...

Blue Whale - Information Report

This week in writing we have been learning about what the structure for a information report is. We have highlighted the structure tool to know what is what, for a example Introduction, conclusion and more. I have learnt lots especially how to structure a information report.

Sub Paragraph

The man took the subway to his subcellar. On his way he stopped to check out a submarine submerging down to the subterranean, subzero water. When he received a call that he could study about the substratum under the earth's soil. Than he received mail from the subordinate staff, he suddenly felt his heart subvert as he read the daily subtitle.

Today's task was to find words in the dictionary that makes sense of being below or under like for a example Submarine. As you can see my group worked collaboratively to finish completing this word wall. The thing was that the word had to start with sub. It took long to complete this but we all worked as a group to get it completed.

Working With My Critical Friend

Working With My Critical Friend:

Rm 6 and Rm 5 are doing a collaborative Critical Friend. I worked with Tim and we had to check each others Writing Samples. It was Tim's writing Sample that was checked by me. We used this Rubric which Rm 6 and Rm5 share's. We check each rubric slides like Punctuation, Vocab, Origination, Sentence Structure, Sentence and Language and lastly Idea's. I was the person checking Tim's work to help him improve on his writing to make him on a higher standard. The rubric helps me and my Critical Friend Tim by looking back and forwards at the mistakes we've done that need's to be fixed. My message to Tim is to concentrate on your writing to improve a lot more to get you at R6.

My Speech Plan

This is my D.L.O about what a speech needs. I have learnt that you don't always have to look at you cu cards and can also look at the audience. When your saying your speech you need a loud clear voice for the audience to know what your topic is about.

I have learnt lots about a compound sentence because when you write a compound sentence you can use FANBOY which stands this words For And Nor But Or Yet So.

My Favourite Paragraph

Entering my new school. The person that took me to my new school was my mum. While my mum and I were talking my mum was encouraging me to be happy and make new friends. At the same time, my mum was talking to me and I was still squeezing her hand. The time we went to school was in the morning my first day at a New Zealand School. The place I was waiting at was at the office. The reason why I came here to a new school is so that I could learn more. Ouch! I was pretending that I had a tummy ache so I couldn’t come to school but anyways I was already at school ready to go to my classroom.

Time Connectives

This is my time connectives that I did. I learnt that when you write a story down you can use connectives for an example like mean while, after, before, next, soon and later. The main thing to do when you write down your sentences you have to make sure it is interesting.

Junior School Culture Day

On Wednesday afternoon the junior school had a show for their culture day. Room one was presenting Niue, Room 2 was doing Tongan, Room 3 was doing Cook Island and Room 4 was doing Samoa. There was loads of audience and 5 Cook Island Drummers. I was really happy that I saw all the beautiful performances that was presented. My favorite class who presented their performance is Room 2 and Room 3, but the rest of the class was awesome.

Tongan Language Week

Today is Tongan Language Week. The words I learnt from the Tongan site was that Tahataha in Tongan means eleven. I also learnt that ngata in Tongan means snake. My goal for today is to greet people in Tongan.

I was excited when I heard I was going to perform at the Matariki.

Going To The Matariki

“Dancing in the freezing cold is the thing I don’t like”.

I was excited when I heard I was going to perform at the Matariki. There were people from my family that were there to support our performances. When I went to the Matariki I was nervous because I was cold to perform on the stage. When I first arrived there I ran to the lights with all my might.

I first went to the maze because I wanted to keep myself warm by running. Wow! there are lots of people now so I started getting nervous. First of all the amount of people that were there they were going round in circles. I went near the fire and put sticks inside it to make the fire go huge like mountains.

When the Cook Island Community Group just arrived at the Matariki we got changed in our costumes. We walked all the way to the stage feeling like we were ice. When I put my feet on the stage my face started turning red like spicy chilli. When the drummers started by hitting those drums it gave me a fright and my heart started beating fast. When I was dancing I couldn't control myself cause the stage was freezing and I couldn't handle it because my feet was numb.

I got so hot by those lights shining in my eyes so I started to turn red again. So I got even hotter and hotter without the fresh air blowing on me like the other girls. I was so nervous that people were thinking that I was a tomato with that kind of color face I had. Some of the people were cheering out loud like a haka was happening.

When we hopped off the stage I felt more fresher than how we were on the stage. We went back to the hall and got ourselves changed and then we all went home with a smile on our faces.  

Interactive Drum Show

On Wednesday the whole school went into the hall for the Interactive Drum Show. We met John and Lucie the people who are experts at drumming. We copied John do the rhythms and say things in his langue. We learnt such good rhythms with John and Lucie. When we first played the drums it sounded like a gun shot. When we played the drums I was feeling negative because  I thought I was going to fail. We tried our best to be an expert. We learnt lots and had so much fun.

Botanical Gardens

At the Botanical Gardens we had lots of fun things to do. My favourite part on that day at the Botanical Gardens was looking at the huge Kereru . When we were roaming around the beautiful plants I smelt all different flowers. When we went in the spooky forest Sarah gave us mirrors to see all the massive trees.  

When we went to the children' s gardens we had lots of fun in the dark spooky tunnel. When we were at the children's garden I saw a fantail flapping it's wings around and around.

The most scary thing that I thought would happened is that when Sarah gave us the mirrors I thought that I was falling down from the sky. The thing I enjoyed on the day was smelling the lovely flowers and looking at fabulous colors too.

I had a fabulous day at the Botanical gardens but I had a relax in the bus before we got back to school.
