Book Character Parade

 Today was the Book Character, we had to decide on choosing a character in a book. I came as a school girl. The reason why we did this was to bring the magic of books to make t alive for the juniors (Younger kids). We had visitors that came to school such as Gangster Granny and more. I really like what I saw today because I saw some fantastic people wearing different costumes. A big thank you to Mrs Millward for organizing this even for our school. I hope this will carry on next year!

Advertising

For writing, we played a collaborative game on advertising. We were put in to groups to write down the same thing that was on the paper, but the thing was that the writer wasn't allowed to see it. After the game we had to write what advertising is, but only with using 25 words. Later we made a DLO based on what we were doing. Advertising is a way for business to promote their products. Advertisers persuade their target audience's into thinking like them and to trick people into believing their advertisement. It was a lot harder doing it rather then watching it.

Attributing Images

Today I was working on a DLO on attributing images mainly based on the Olympics. The Olympics is in 1 week an a half. That is only reason why we were mainly attributing on images based on the Olympics. The thing you have to remember is to make sure your photo is labeled for reuse.

Orienteering

Today the year 8's have been doing orienteering with Leon and Elaina. In orienteering, we have learnt lots about what the rules are, we have learnt that sometimes you have to go in order with the map. Me and my partner Ana has been working collaboratively to get all letters clipped by reading the map, which was pointing towards North. Me and Ana's time was 18:10. It was really hard running from one place to another but I give orienteering a 8/10.

Life Education

Today after lunch, the year eight's had the opportunity to work on our booklets for the life of education. So far this week, we have learnt lots about our body system and making the right choices. Today me and Paige was working in our booklets and the activity we were working on was the word search, based on whats in a cigarette.

Transum - 3x Tables

This is my photo that shows me doing my maths on transum. Today for maths I have been learning my 3 times tables. I have played a game on transum which was called Fact Factors. My goal was to beat the time on the clock, showing whether I know my 3 times tables fast enough to answer it just like that.

Story Startes Scramble - Writing

 This is my story I done on a website called Story Starters Scramble. I have made a news paper written with my story, my story was based on describing the house of an old spider monkey who solves crimes. We had to start off with spinning the wheel then it will come up with a topic. If you like your topic then you have to either write it as it is like a post card, news paper, letter or a notebook. Reading Games

 Today for reading I played 2 games called Author's purpose and the last one was linking text. For the author's purpose I had to find out what the text is, weather it is a fact or a opinion. The last game I played was based on linking the text together whether it was based on the same story, or if it links to what a text says.

Life Education - Nicole

Today the year 8's went for our first session at Life Education. We have been learning about the body system + reactions linking to our nerves. I have learnt that when people say that your heart is a shape of a love heart, I have just found out that it's a love heart shape ONLY when you give your heart to another person. The place where your heart belongs is in the center of your body. Another thing I have learnt is that you only get a headache if you don't drink enough water. The thing is that when you breathe in oxygen, it goes through your veins and through your muscles.
